After having played two matches I've once more come across the problem of multi-coloured bowls stickers! Yesterday for instance we were playing an away match and our players were mainly using blue stickers, and lo and behold some of the home team were also using blue stickers!. What a poser fot the skips in directing the 'head' and also for the thirds in counting the shots! Using club colours may seem the answer but many clubs have similar colours and mix-ups can occur. Surely it's time to have the sticker colour standardised eg. red for home and blue for away. When I played in the private greens league this standard was adhered to with no problems at all , so maybe we in the niba could take a leaf out of their book! Alex

All teams should have their club's name or crest on their stickers to stop any confusion.

All clubs have supplied their team colours and sticker colours to the NIBA to be registered. The away team should change colours or remove their discs if they clash with the home team (Rule 7 General rules).

Bowls identification discs shall be used in all competitions. Competitors may use either registered Club discs or red and blue as applied on a home and away basis, i.e. red for the home team and blue for the away team, subject to the following: Where the discs of the visiting team are in conflict with those of the home team, such as to cause confusion in identification of bowls by spectators, players or officials, the visitors shall be required to change to discs of another colour or to remove the offending discs completely. For Semi-finals and Finals, the choice of discs shall be at the discretion of the League or Competitions Secretary.
